Auburn Band Parents Association By Laws ~ By Laws

 What is ABPA?

We would like to introduce you to the Auburn High School Band Parents Association or ABPA.   We are a non profit organization that is open to all band parents, alumni parents, alumni and community members who express the desire to encourage and support the band program at Auburn Senior High School and it's members.

Our association is led by an Executive Board of Directors, comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  These are elected positions in which a parent may serve either a one year term or two.  We work directly with the band director, the instructional staff and students.  We also have several committee chairs such as:  Head Chaperon, Head of Transportation (Pit Boss),
Uniform Chair, Head Guard Parent, Food Services Chair, Veterans' Day Chair and Jazz Festival Chair.

Our mission is to support the band director, Auburn's band program and its' members.  As band parents, we strive to provide patience, encouragement, guidance and direction for our students; along with chaperoning, fund raising, communication (website) and parental supervision and leadership.   We fund raise to off set student expenses for transportation, meals, housing, uniform items, band camp, along with paying for additional instructional staff members and purchasing new equipment that the district doesn't provide.

We refer to "our kids" as some of the best kids at Auburn.  Our rewards are in the accomplishments that our students achieve by having music in their lives.  Did you know that music students score higher on SAT tests and that the majority of music students continue with their education in to college and/or the military?

If you enjoy music, working with young people and want to make a difference in your student's music education, then we invite you to join us and get involved.  We look forward to your participation and support of our band program.

Band Parents meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month, except in July at  7:00 pm in the AHS Band Room.  Every parent of a currently enrolled band student at Auburn is automatically a member of the ABPA.  We have numerous alumni parents who continue to be involved in our band program, as well as alumni students who return as instructors.  We encourage you to attend meetings and experience your student's high school music education.  The next four years will go by ever so quickly, so don't wait until their senior year, get involved now!  For further information contact one of the above Board members.
